Besiktas and Hradec Kralove will meet in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round 13 August 2026 at 13:00 EDT / 10:00 PDT. The match will be played at Besiktas Park in Istanbul.
Italiano's side did not secure a decisive advantage in the tie away from home, but a narrow win suited them just fine. Even without signing Salah, the Eagles' squad is far too strong to go out in qualifying for Europe's second-tier club competition.
A week ago in Czechia, Besiktas showed the difference in class. Italiano's side were clearly not dominant, but did everything required to take a narrow advantage into the return leg. The Istanbul side were far more inventive going forward (2.33-1.00 in xG), but Kılıçsoy settled everything through individual quality. The Turkey international winger made a triumphant appearance from the bench: the side were reduced to ten men after Kassoum Ouattara's two yellow cards, and Semih scored four minutes after coming on. Hradec Kralove did not respond at all, although they had accumulated more big chances by the final whistle (4-2).
This win was Besiktas' third consecutive clean sheet. Even before facing Hradec, Italiano's side looked convincing going forward against the more accomplished Midtjylland (3:0 on aggregate), comfortably shutting out the Danes without a clear difference in class. Salih Özcan and Orkun Kökçü are still finding their form, but these midfielders provide control. The former Borussia Dortmund defensive midfielder quickly settled into Italiano's starting XI — Ndidi replaced him late in the match in Czechia when fresh legs were needed with the side down to ten men. Horejs' coaching staff lack such flexibility — the Czechs play bold football in a 3-4-3, but it had no effect at home. In Istanbul, Hradec will drop deeper when the top opponents increase the pressure.
In Czechia, Besiktas did not give Milot Rashica, Amir Hadziahmetovic or Felix Uduokhai a single minute — these players could decide the outcome simply by being on the pitch. We are convinced that in Istanbul, Italiano's side will not allow Hradec Kralove anywhere near their goal. Besiktas will take the initiative from kick-off.
