In the first round of the US Open, two Americans will face off: Alex Michelsen and Eliot Spizzirri.
Michelsen only started constantly competing in ATP tournaments last year but has already established himself as an outstanding player. He is undoubtedly the favourite for this match, as Spizzirri is making his debut in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament. However, as is often the case, there's a catch...
The catch is that Michelsen is set to play the final in Winston-Salem today, which means he'll have expended considerable energy just before the major tournament and is unlikely to be in perfect physical condition. Additionally, Alex also prolonged his stay in Cincinnati, reaching the doubles final there. Consequently, he will have played 11 matches in 11 days.
In our opinion, a well-prepared Spizzirri could very well pull off a victory here.
