Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Champions League match.
Feyenoord delivered a stunning performance in their last outing, netting three goals against Manchester City, and now they are set to host Sparta Prague at their home ground. The visitors also made headlines in the fourth round, but for all the wrong reasons, conceding six goals to Atlético Madrid.
Feyenoord Rotterdam
Feyenoord staged an impressive match against Manchester City (3:3) in the previous round, coming back from 3:0 down in just 15 minutes. Although they average two goals per match, the team has defensive issues. Feyenoord have conceded in every tournament match, with an average of 2.6 goals per game. Over 2.5 goals have been recorded in all five of their Champions League clashes, signalling open play when facing the Dutch side.
Sparta Prague
Sparta Prague are enduring a dreadful season. Despite picking up points in their first two matches, they have since suffered three consecutive defeats, including a heavy home loss to Atlético Madrid (0:6). Their main problem lies in a weak defence, which managed just one clean sheet in five Champions League appearances. In four out of five matches, the total exceeded 2.5 goals. Their domestic league form is equally poor, allowing opponents to score in nine of their last ten fixtures.
Feyenoord Rotterdam vs Sparta Prague Prediction
An open match with plenty of goals is on the cards. Feyenoord will continue to rely on their potent attack, but defensive frailties offer Sparta Prague chances to capitalise on. However, the visitors' own unreliable defence means they will concede multiple goals. Therefore, we confidently predict a high-scoring game.
