Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
Following their elimination from the Coppa Italia and losing the lead in the league, Napoli have ramped up their attacking aggression. Facing Venezia, who are languishing near the bottom of Serie A, the Neapolitans will be highly active on the opposing half as they aim to reclaim top spot by the New Year.
Napoli
Victories against Udinese (3:1) and Genoa (2:1) have allowed Napoli to maintain their edge over competitors, an advantage they have been building for months under Antonio Conte. In Genoa, the southern side scored twice by the 23rd minute, finishing the match with 1.37 xG from 12 shots and 61% possession. It's worth noting that at home, Napoli have won 8 of their 10 matches this season, scoring at least two goals in five of those wins.
Venezia
Newly promoted to the top division, Venezia appear to have made little effort to address their defensive weaknesses. While they deserve credit for a three-match unbeaten streak, they remain in the relegation zone with one of the worst xGA figures (30.20 – joint third worst with Lecce). Additionally, Venezia have not managed a single win in 10 away matches this campaign, with seven defeats and three draws.
Napoli vs Venezia Prediction
In the 2021/22 season, Napoli defeated Venezia twice with their class shining through in both encounters (both games ending 2:0). At home, the Neapolitans will not lower their attacking standards—Antonio Conte requires a convincing win over the underdog. We're backing the home side to deliver a high-scoring performance.
