Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NHL match.
Neither team has been particularly impressive of late. Between them, they have managed just 6 wins in 20 games, making it hard to have faith in either securing a victory. So, what is the best option here? There is a promising alternative.
Vancouver Canucks
Looking at recent performances, it is evident that when the Vancouver Canucks lose, it is not typically a rout. Their heaviest defeat was a 1:5 loss to the Boston Bruins. Over their last 10 games, they have scored more than three goals in only three instances, while allowing more than three in regulation time only three times. Their most high-scoring game was the recent clash with the Ottawa Senators (4:5 OT). In the other nine games, the total under 6.5 goals has been achieved eight times.
San Jose Sharks
The San Jose Sharks have not shone in their last four outings, suffering four defeats with just a solitary point to their name. In fact, they have only one win in their last eight games. Again, we wouldn’t be rushing to back the hosts either. However, it's noteworthy that in their last 10 games, the total under 6.5 goals has been seen in the majority (6 out of 10). If the Sharks—and specifically Yaroslav Askarov—managed to limit the Edmonton Oilers' potent attack to only two goals in 60 minutes at Rogers Place (2:3 OT), it suggests something significant.
Vancouver Canucks vs San Jose Sharks Prediction
If the Sharks’ coaching staff again entrust the net to the Russian goalie, we can expect no more than two or three goals conceded. Scoring against the Vancouver Canucks is also a hurdle, leading us to believe we'll once again see fewer than six goals scored altogether.
