Adam Williams presents his prediction for the UFC 312 fight.
Viacheslav Borshchev
Viacheslav Borshchev will focus on a tight guard and attempt to close the distance using a double jab. He will look to shield against every leg attack and, if caught by a few strikes, switch stance and press forward with powerful hooks. Borshchev will mix body punches with heavy low and middle kicks, aiming to break through Nolan’s defence with three-punch combinations and sharp elbows at close range. He will also rely on slips and head movement to evade wide attacks and counter with crisp boxing combinations.
Tom Nolan
Tom Nolan will operate at mid-to-long range, where he can maximise his reach advantage and avoid Borshchev’s pressure. He will open up with front kicks and mid-range strikes, trying to sap his opponent’s stamina and lower his guard. If Nolan lures Borshchev into his range, he will look to catch him with a spinning elbow or uppercut. He will also mix in low kicks and sharp jabs while keeping the threat of a powerful high kick. If the fight moves into the pocket, Nolan may engage in a firefight but is more likely to clinch and land knees to the head.
Betting Odds
Bookmakers favour Borshchev, given his UFC experience and the level of opposition he has faced. The odds for his victory stand at 4/5.
Nolan, though promising, has yet to prove himself against elite competition, making his win priced at 21/20.
Viacheslav Borshchev vs Tom Nolan Prediction
Nolan’s reach advantage should allow him to land effectively at range, and his frequent kicks could drain Borshchev’s gas tank while scoring valuable points. However, Borshchev’s kickboxing background means he will anticipate Nolan’s feints and spinning attacks. Both fighters are likely to take a measured approach, avoiding unnecessary exchanges. With neither possessing overwhelming knockout power, the most logical bet is the fight to go the distance.
