The UK’s Accumulator Betting Sites in 2022

Nowadays, it is really hard to imagine a Saturday on Twitter following the football without one word popping up time and time again, "Acca". Short for an accumulator, this is a bet of many normal single bets with the winnings of each leg rolled onto the next bet. The number of selections involved can range from two (known as a double) up to any number you want.

The best betting sites for accumulators are going to be all-round "best betting sites" with a number of strings to their Bow, great odds, lots of betting markets, etc, etc. A few extra things to consider are what are the min stake amounts, what are the max winnings per bet, and are there any bonuses or Free bet offers to do with Accumulator bets, because these are things you will be interested in.

How We Rank Accumulator Sites

There is no one site that is the best at absolutely everything, all bookmakers will have Pros and Cons and certain areas where they are stronger than the competition. It should also be remembered that everyone using the betting sites will have different preferences and value certain features more than others, so at the end of the day, you need to pick what is best for yourself. The criteria which we use to help guide you are listed below.

Acca Special Offers

The best betting sites for a football accumulator do not have to have a Welcome bonus specifically for accumulators but being able to use accumulators as a qualifying bet is essential. The offer may be something like bet £5 and get £20 of Free bets. In that case then the £5 qualifying bet must be able to be an accumulator bet and the Free bet, once credited, must be able to be wagered on a multiples bet.

Sometimes there will be existing user offers where qualifying bets can ONLY be multiple bets, examples of this might be Price boosts for Accas of 5 legs or more, or Acca insurance if 1 leg lets you down. These rewards can be paid as Free bets or better still is if upon bet settlement there is cash added to your balance. Betting sites with these special offers will get credit for that.

Loyalty Program

Similar to the above some betting sites have various loyalty programs and the qualifying bets do not HAVE to be Accas for us to give it credit, but betting on Accas has to mean Free bets get credited (Remember other T&Cs apply too though). There will be some bookmakers that have specific Acca betting bonuses for loyal customers, but they do not have to be specific for us to appreciate it exists.

Competitive odds

Competitive odds is always important, they are essentially the one thing all bookmakers can be compared on using a level playing field. A betting site with higher odds will Ceteris Paribus* be better than a betting site with lower odds. It is as simple as that.

*All other things remaining equal

The List Of Available Banking Options

Not particularly important in the grand scheme of things but something to consider nonetheless is what banking methods are available, with several key E-Wallets almost always being accepted the best bookmakers will definitely give these as an option. The big three are PaypPal, Neteller, and Skrill. It should be remembered though that when trying to claim most promotional bonuses payment method exclusions apply and often only deposits that are card payments count as a qualifying deposit.

Betting App

The top bookmakers of any category we look at will usually also have the best betting Apps. It could be a coincidence but a bookmaker who puts considerable time and effort into making their App a quality, user friendly, easy to use, feature packed product are usually also an all round good bookmaker. Every betting App we have ever seen has allowed Accas to be placed on it, so that is a given, we look at the other qualities the betting App has when considering its rating.

Accumulator Bets Explained

An accumulator can be any bets on any sports, you can combine a Horse to place in one race in the 1:20 at Newmarket, with a football player to score a goal later that day at Wembley, a player to win a darts game that night and Donald Trump to be the next President of America. There is no rules as to what bets you can put into an Acca EXCEPT, the bets can not be related to each other (known as contingent events). The most common example of these is two bets on the same football match which is why bookmakers have "bet builders" to cover this. As long as two different games are chosen an Acca can include pretty much anything you want, the correct score, the first goal scorer, both teams to score... it is up to you.

What Are Doubles, Trebles And Four-Fold?

Doubles, trebles, and four-folds are all different types of accumulator bet. The names come from how many individual bets make up each, so a "Double" is an accumulator with two legs, a "Treble" has three and a "Four fold" has four. Examples might be:

Man Utd to win + Chelsea to win = This is a Double

A double bet placed at William Hill

Man Utd to win + Chelsea to win + Liverpool to score first = This is a Treble

A treble bet placed at William Hill

Man Utd to win + Chelsea to win + Liverpool to score first + Arsenal to draw = This is a Four-Fold

How To Calculate Odds Of An Acca Bet?

To calculate the odds of an Acca bet involves multiplying the odds of each individual leg together, this can lead to exponentially high returns each time you add just one more. An example would be:

To place a bet on Man Utd to beat Southampton you are given odds of 1.8. This is just a single bet, bet £1 and return £1.80 (so 80p profit)

At the same time Brentford are playing Everton, and the odds of them winning is 2.05, so bet £1 on it and you would get £2.05 back (so £1.05 profit).

A single bet at odds of 2.05 placed at Ladbrokes

To work out the odds of those bets as an accumulator you must multiply them by each other. In this example, you would have 1.8 x 2.05 = 3.69

A double Acca bet at Ladbrokes with combined odds of 3.69

Your new odds are now 3.69 which means a £1 stake now returns £3.69 which is a total of £2.69 profit. This is more profit from a £1 stake than you were getting from TWO £1 bets previously, that had a total outlay of £2 to return a maximum profit of £1.85 (£0.8 +£1.05). So as you can see Acca bets raise your potential maximum profit and reduce your total stake amount required to place the bets. (The downside is Acca bets also have more risk because just one wrong selection loses it all).

Each time you add a selection you multiply the odds of that winning by the TOTAL odds of all the bets so far. Using our example we can add Brighton to win at odds of 1.87. So now you would have 3.69 x 1.87 = 6.89.

Normally Acca promotions require at least three and sometimes four or five legs to qualify for Free bets

You can keep on doing this by adding more and more legs. There is no limit to how many bets you put into an Acca but there could be a limit on the maximum amount any bet can win so do not get carried away. In our experience, most people add 4 or 5 legs and that seems to be about right.

Popular Sports for Acca Bets

Acca betting can happen on any betting markets, and on any sport, so there are no "popular sports for Acca bets" as such, more there are just popular sports for betting in general, and it is therefore these most Acca bets are placed on. The top two sports that have multiple bets placed on them by a country mile are:

Horse Racing Bets: Horse racing bets total around £5Bn a year which is a remarkable amount. Of that just over £1Bn is placed by UK customers online. Horse racing has long lent itself to Acca betting and the ability to bet on both horses to win and also to place on the same Acca gives some flexibility but still, the potential payouts get very high very quickly.

Football Bets: Football is the second most wagered on sport and it is very common to find Acca betting taking place across the nation on a Saturday morning, before the 15:00 games all kick off. It was betting on this coupon that led to the adoption of the betting phrase "banker", it was originally a bet that was seen to be impossible to lose, and at such low odds you would not normally bother betting on it but when added to an Acca it suddenly made a big boost in profits for very little risk.

Types of Accumulator Betting Offers

Welcome Bonuses

Bookmakers are always trying to attract new customers and the most common way of doing that is to offer Welcome Bonuses. It is possible that you will be rewarded in some way for placing your first bet with a bookmaker as long as it is an Acca. An example of this would be:

The Betway Welcome bonus refunds your first losing Acca as a Free bet (T&Cs apply)

#ad / 18+. New UK customers only. Min Deposit: £5. Maximum Free Bet: £30. First bet on Football or Horse Racing multiples with 3+ selections. Odds 3.00 (2/1) or higher. Free Bets awarded on settlement of qualifying bet. Offer valid for 7 days. 50 Bonus Spins credited on placement of qualifying Acca. 50x bonus wagering, bonus Spins expire after 7 days. Debit card deposits only. Full T&Cs apply. www.begambleaware.org

Loyalty rewards clubs

Some bookmakers have loyalty clubs to reward loyal players who continue to stay active with them long after joining. Some of these clubs only give away these Free bet stakes if your qualifying bets were made Acca betting.

Sporting Index reward loyal players who place 3x football accumulator bets with a £5 Free bet (T&Cs apply)

At Sporting Index Odds every week you can place three £5 qualifying bets on any betting market with a combined minimum odds of 2/1 (Decimal 3) then you will receive a Free bet worth £5 to use on another multiple bet the next week. Sporting Index gets Free bets credited at midnight on Sunday with the Free bet valid for 48 hours. Free bet stakes are not included in any winnings.

Insurance if 1 leg lets you down

A popular accumulator betting offer is a form of "insurance" if just one leg lets you down. This is not actually a very good offer but it seems to be pretty widespread regardless. Getting exactly one leg incorrect is pretty unlikely and even if it does happen, you still only get a Free bet rather than cash. Each bookmaker offering this offer will have different T&Cs apply to them, but all will consider the minimum odds and number of legs required in the qualifying bet.

At Paddy Power your first qualifying bet of £10 each day is refunded as a Free bet should one leg lose.

UK players only - 18+ - BeGambleAware

Profit boosts

Probably the most under rated Acca bonus is that of profit boosts. They will also have T&Cs apply and a minimum number of legs with minimum odds in order to be a qualifying bet but as long as you meet this the reward is excellent value. It is not impossible to find boosts of over 50% if enough selections are included.

10bet boosts the profit of winning Accas (Full T&Cs apply)

The best accumulator betting sites will probably have several accumulator bonuses, and profit boosts should be one.

#ad / 18+. New bettors; Code SPORT; Wager deposit & bonus 8x; Max qualifying bet stake=initial bonus; Valid 60 days; Min odds, bet and payment method exclusions apply; Full T&Cs apply. www.begambleaware.org

Pros & Cons of Accumulator Betting

✅ Pros

  • You can win huge amounts from a very small stake and you can do it by betting on things very likely to happen, you just need a lot of them.

  • Many bookmakers have promotions and bonuses specifically for this kind of bet

  • If you are limited at a bookmaker (both online and in shops) they will place a max stake amount on your bets. What this means if that if you want to bet £200 on something they will probably offer you £20 (or less). It is possible to use accumulator bets to get around these limits in two ways:

    A) Sometimes they will impose a blanket limit size on certain bets for everyone when placed as a single, so putting it into a double with something incredibly likely to win can allow a larger stake now.

    Or

    B) If you have two bets that you wanted to place today and wanted to bet £50 single bets on each, they are both 3/1. odds. If they both win you have a total profit of £300 ((£50 x3) x2). If you are limited to a £20 stake on anything at this bookmaker, then putting both bets into an Acca means your £20 stake still wins £300 ((£20 x 3) + (£80 x 3).

❌ Cons

  • The chances of winning remain the same as if it was a series of single bets. There is no advantage to placing them all in one go.

  • You lose control of your staking and IF you want to lower the risk of the last leg losing you are forced to cash out in order to take profits which will give you terrible value. It would be better to place them one at a time and take profits off the table at each stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a max amount that it's possible to win with an accumulator bet?

Yes, but the max amount is not constant and it is different for each particular website that offers accumulator bets. Each bookmaker will have limits in place to ensure they stay solvent in the event of several big winners at the same time. These win limits will vary from sport to sport, with generally higher limits on football and horse racing than say snooker and golf. Whatever sports are in your Acca, the limit will be the lowest of those. As always Full T&Cs apply.

What happens if a horse racing Acca contains a non-runner?

If there is a non-runner then this particular leg becomes void and it is as if it was never included in the first place. Everything else remains the same, if it had been a double it is now just a single. If it had 3 legs before then it now has 2. Etc, etc.

Is it possible to place an Acca bet from my mobile?

Yes, there is no reason why this should not be possible. Ideally if the bookmaker has a dedicated mobile App then using this would be best. You simply add your selections as you would on the desktop site and submit it in the same way.

Is it possible to "Cash Out" an accumulator bet?

Every betting site will have different T&C's, some do not allow any cash outs whatsoever, but it is likely that if it is possible to cash out a single bet then it will also be possible to cash out an accumulator bet. Be warned that if you cash out a bet then it is always unlikely to qualify for any Free bet bonuses.

What is an Acca bet?

An Acca bet, is slang for an 'Accumulator" bet which is a combination of two or more bets placed into one single bet. It can combine different markets and different sports over many months, or be all the same sport and placed at the same time. There are no rules to that, it is just many different bets all placed together. If one loses, then the whole bet loses too.

What Happens to An Acca Bet In The Event of a push?

If a leg in your Acca is a push (also known as a tie) then it is likely that the rest of the bet will stand and this leg is removed. Please note this is different from a draw, if you bet on a team to win and it is a draw then you lose. Some bets have the opportunity to neither win nor lose, notably Asian Handicap bets, but all bets can become void due to any number of reasons. Void bets are also removed without causing a loss.
