Crvena Zvezda President Criticizes EuroLeague Officiating
Crvena Zvezda president Zeljko Drcelic expressed strong discontent with EuroLeague officiating following the team’s narrow loss to Zalgiris (84-86).
“We faced an outright robbery in front of millions of viewers, and I ask you — should the referees really be the ones deciding the winner? And who, exactly, is giving them such instructions?
"To the gentlemen of EuroLeague: what happened in our games against Barcelona and Zalgiris is what we call theft in our country. Ask yourselves if your league has turned into a den of thieves. I am ashamed of this absurdity,” Drcelic told Sportal.
The Serbian club’s head coach, Ioannis Sfairopoulos, lodged a formal protest in the fourth quarter following an unsuccessful challenge regarding Alen Smailagic’s unsportsmanlike foul on Nikola Kalinic.
