The Western Conference semi-final between the Denver Nuggets and the Oklahoma City Thunder is proving to be one of the most action-packed series of the postseason. After suffering a crushing defeat in Game 2 (106:149), the Nuggets will be desperate to bounce back on their home court.
Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets’ gruelling seven-game battle against the Los Angeles Clippers (120:101) clearly drained their energy reserves. In the opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder, they showed resilience, edging a close finish (121:119). However, Game 2 was a different story. Despite putting up more shots (89 to 87) and rebounds (44 to 38), the Nuggets were simply overwhelmed by the Thunder’s blistering efficiency from the field. That level of shot-making could again be a problem for the Nuggets in Game 3.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder’s blowout win in Game 2 was a statement performance. After sweeping the Memphis Grizzlies (4:0 on aggregate) in the previous round, the Thunder may have lacked rhythm in the opener. But they made no mistake the second time around. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge with 34 points in just 30 minutes. The Thunder also asserted dominance inside, out-rebounding the Denver Nuggets (13-8 on the offensive glass).
Denver Nuggets vs Oklahoma City Thunder Prediction
Given the pace and shot volume both teams are producing, the third matchup in this series promises to be another high-scoring affair. With the Denver Nuggets desperate to respond and the Oklahoma City Thunder clicking offensively, the over looks like the smart play.
