Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Europa League match.
FCSB performed well in the group stage. They now face not only the sixth-placed team from that stage but also one of Europe’s top teams.
FCSB
FCSB will also be looking to avoid a disappointing result. With one match remaining in the Romanian SuperLiga’s regular season, they lead the standings by one point. Last Sunday’s match proved challenging for the team. FCSB faced Rapid București in the Bucharest derby, one of the key fixtures in the country. The visitors applied more pressure and created more chances until the 36th minute. However, after centre-back Joyskim Dawa was sent off, they had to reduce their attacking approach. A disallowed goal for offside prevented the league leader from suffering a defeat. Nevertheless, FCSB have scored in five consecutive matches, including both legs of the Europa League knockout stage against PAOK (2:1, 2:0).
Olympique Lyonnais
Olympique Lyonnais have consistently scored goals since February. They achieved a Total Over 3.5 in four of their last five matches, with their lowest-scoring match recorded in their most recent Ligue 1 fixture against Stade de Reims (2:1). Although Lyon lost twice—to Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain—they have never scored fewer than two goals. Corentin Tolisso scored in four consecutive matches, while Alexandre Lacazette managed four goals in three matches.
FCSB vs Olympique Lyonnais Prediction
In Bucharest, we expect Olympique Lyonnais to score at least one goal. This expectation is based on the lower level of physical resistance compared to Ligue 1. However, as they conceded eight goals in their last five matches, we also expect the hosts to get on the scoresheet.
