Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Europa League match.
Despite a five-match winless streak, bookmakers have rightly picked OGC Nice as the slight favourites for the clash against Ferencváros. The French side boast a more skilled and accomplished squad, making them capable of securing three points in Budapest, especially after their recent draw against Paris Saint-Germain (1:1).
Ferencváros
Ferencváros have seen a dip in their form since the start of the Europa League. Since the end of September, the team have only secured two wins in five matches, conceding a total of seven goals in their three losses. Against Anderlecht and Tottenham Hotspur (both 1:2), the Hungarian side registered a significant 3.19 xGA in total. In their home game against the Londoners, the manager fielded his strongest lineup, free from injury problems, yet neither Varga Barnabás nor Kady Borges could halt Tottenham Hotspur' reserves.
OGC Nice
A month ago, Nice thrashed Ligue 1 newcomers Saint-Étienne (8:0), after which they slowed down a bit. Their five-game winless run (four draws and one loss) can largely be attributed to a challenging fixture list, with Nantes (1:1) being their only lower-ranked opposition. Facing PSG (1:1), the team played defensively, creating 0.53 xG with just 29% possession.
Ferencváros vs OGC Nice Prediction
Nice have gained valuable experience from their encounters with Real Sociedad (1:1) and Lazio (1:4), which they will aim to apply in their trip to Ferencváros. Once again, the Hungarian side's lack of depth in key positions will be apparent, with the visitors poised to edge closer to victory first.
