Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
After a run of three consecutive victories that lifted them to ninth place, Hull City have started to slip down the standings. Meanwhile, Burnley hold a firm position in the playoff spots but they need to secure direct promotion to the Premier League. Who will come out on top?
Hull City
Hull City's second consecutive defeat can be explained. They faced the league leaders, Sunderland. They had little chance (0.49 xG and just 1 shot on target), but equally, they didn’t allow much (1.05 xGA and 10 (2) shots). The visitors broke through only midway through the second half to win 1:0. Hull City are set to play at home again, but they are vulnerable at their stadium: over the last ten games, the team have recorded two wins, four draws, and four losses.
Burnley
For Burnley, the venue makes no difference. They sit second in both the overall and away tables, while they are sixth in the home rankings. In five away matches, they have only lost to Sunderland (0:1), who deservedly proved too strong and restricted Burnley to few if any chances.
Hull City vs Burnley Prediction
In head-to-head encounters, Burnley also hold the upper hand. Their last meeting ended in a 3:1 away win for the visitors, and overall, they remain unbeaten in their last five matches against Hull City. Home ground advantage and loyal supporters won’t be enough to help the hosts.
