Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Can Brentford still harbour hopes of European qualification? With a five-match unbeaten streak, they certainly remain in the conversation. Ipswich Town, by contrast, are simply aiming to conclude their English Premier League campaign with some dignity—ideally, by securing one more win in front of their home supporters.
Ipswich Town
Just four victories across the entire season have left the squad in a perilous position. As the standings indicate, a minimum of nine wins—such as those recorded by 17th-placed West Ham United—is generally needed to avoid relegation. Ipswich Town have managed only two draws from their last five fixtures, including a 2:2 stalemate against Everton last weekend. Their most recent three points came on 2 April with a 2:1 away victory over Bournemouth. However, their form at Portman Road has been woeful, with seven straight defeats, including a loss to Southampton. It’s entirely possible their last home success will remain the 2:0 win against Chelsea earlier in the season.
Brentford
While Brentford's record at their compact West London ground is commendable, it’s their away form that deserves greater attention. In eight away matches in 2025, they have picked up six wins. Most recently, Brentford defeated Champions League hopefuls Nottingham Forest, capitalising on rapid counterattacks. The squad also held Arsenal to a draw and only failed to secure points away to Newcastle United.
Ipswich Town vs Brentford Prediction
Considering the current form of both teams, it's hard to envisage Ipswich Town even forcing a draw. The prediction is for Brentford to extend their impressive run.
