Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Despite nine rounds still to play, Leicester City appear to be running out of options in their battle for survival. And a trip to face Manchester City is hardly the place they’d expect to turn things around. Manchester City, meanwhile, are locked in a fierce pursuit of a Champions League spot and won’t be in a charitable mood.
Manchester City currently sit fifth, just one point adrift of fourth place — a position that may soon guarantee Champions League football depending on UEFA’s coefficient ruling. Still, there’s no margin for error, and after the international break they resumed action in style, beating Bournemouth (2:1) in the FA Cup quarter-final. It could’ve been more — Erling Haaland missed a penalty but did score from open play.
That said, the Norwegian will not feature in this match. He was taken off after an hour due to a knock, and while he managed three shots and a goal, his absence won’t significantly blunt Manchester City’s attacking threat. Oumar Marmoush — who also got on the scoresheet — is expected to lead the line.
Manchester City vs Leicester City Prediction
Manchester City’s threat comes from all angles. Academy product Nico O’Reilly notched two assists against Bournemouth and showed there’s no shortage of creativity even from the bench. So, Leicester fans should prepare themselves for a potentially disappointing, heavy defeat.
