Types of World Cup 2022 Betting Offers

Free Bets "If«

A popular betting format offered by the majority of bookmakers at one time or another is for a Free bet to be awarded "If" something happens. The trigger will vary from bookmaker to bookmaker and from offer to offer, and can be from something certain such as depositing £X amount through to something more unlikely, like a Free bet "If" the crossbar is struck in the match. Regardless of what the "If" is, the normal format is that you must bet first, and then once the bet settles the match is reviewed and as long as your "If" criteria has been met then a Free bet is credited to your account.

No lose Bets

Sometimes bookmakers will offer what they describe as "No lose" bets, basically in its truest form you can bet on either their selection, or a choice of your own and if it wins then that is great you can keep all the profit. If it loses then you are given your stake back as cash. Be careful to check that the refund is in cash, some bookmakers advertise a "no lose" bet but give the refund as Free bet stakes which is not as good and can also lose, meaning you have lost overall despite what is advertised.

Enhanced Odds

One of the most common type of World Cup betting offer that you will see is for betting sites to offer boosted odds on selected sportsbook markets, and an outright bet on England to win the tournament is the most common one to see. It can also be a team winning the group that they are in, or certain players winning the golden boot. All football bets can have enhanced odds, it is up to each bookmaker which betting odds they increase.

World Cup 2022 Betting Offers For Existing Customers

When it comes to World Cup betting offers there are not many new customer bonuses that have been enhanced with larger Free bets than normal, or simpler qualifying bet terms and conditions simplified. The best World Cup offers are generally for all customers and can certainly be used to add value to any World Cup 2022 bets that you were always going to be making anyway.

How to Claim World Cup Free Bets?

Every bookmaker will have a slightly different way to operate their Free bet system, in terms of how to qualify for them and once credited how to use them. We will give a standard example below, which will vary from bookmaker to bookmaker but should always be fairly similar to this:

  1. Navigate to the bookmaker with World Cup betting offers you fancy taking part in, we have listed our top five at the beginning of this text, but you may find another, and the process will be similar.
Star Sports World Cup betting hub.

  2. Register at the bookmaker offering the Free bets first of all.
Register for a new betting account.

  3. You will have to fill in some personal details, mainly your age and address. A top tip is to "verify" the account by sending in any KYC documentation before it is requested to save time later on.
    Fill in your personal details.

  4. Check which payment methods are eligible for the Free bet bonus, we suggest that using a debit card is the best way 9 times out of 10. This is especially true if the card is part of the Visa Fast Funds system.

  5. The bonus offer that we are taking part in is to get our money back as a Free bet if our outright winner bet does not actually get as far as the quarter finals.
Place a qualifying real money bet on one of Star Sports World Cup bet offers.

  6. Some people always like to deposit the max qualifying bet stake amount in order to maximise the value of the bonus, but we suggest only ever depositing an amount that you are happy to risk. It is normally possible to place a smaller bet than the maximum and receive a Free bet proportional to that.

  7. In this example, we are going to make a qualifying bet of £20 for Brazil to win the tournament.
Betslip showing our real money bet, only the first bet made on this market qualifies.

  8. If they do then that is great and we win our bet. If they lose in the final, the semi final, or the quarter finals then unfortunately we just lose our bet. However, we have added value to our bet because if Brazil do not get out of the group, or lose in the last 16 stage, then we are going to be credited with a £20 Free bet.
  9. There is no need to claim this Free bet, it will be added automatically within 24 hours of the qualifying bet settlement. Free bets valid for 7 days after being credited.

World Cup 2022 Betting Markets

The World Cup is a football tournament that offers several betting markets not available week in and week out. You can place sports bets on all the usual football match markets but also on the tournament itself.

To win the tournament outright

The main World Cup betting market is usually who will win the tournament outright. This can also be called "to lift the trophy", and you are a winner if your team does just that. It is most common to place a single bet on this but each-way betting is available from the best World Cup betting sites, which will pay 1/2the odds if your team finishes 2nd.

Top Goalscorer (Golden Boot)

The top goalscorer market refers to all goals scored in normal (or extra) time throughout the tournament. Penalties will count if scored in normal time but not from a penalty shoot out. It is important to note that there is a difference between the top goalscorer and the golden boot winner which not everyone realises. There can be multiple "top goalscorers" if they are level on goals scored and bets are settled using dead heat rules. On the other hand there can only be one golden boot winner because if they are level on goals scored then the number of assists are taken into account, and if still level after that whoever has spent the least time on the pitch is the winner.

To reach the semi finals

You can bet on which teams will reach the semi finals of the competition which is going to have lower betting odds obviously but conversely a much higher chance of winning something. It is a good bet to place if you want to support more than one team through the tournament and have both, up to all four, bets win.

To reach the quarter finals

Similar to the above, the best betting sites will provide betting options that include which include how far each team will progress in the tournament, and reaching the quarter finals is one of these. These bets are useful because it allows you to have a betting interest in some of the more fringe teams that are not realistically going to win, but could make it this far with a bit of luck.

To win the group

Another bet is on which teams will win each of the groups. This can be a good bet to give interest in the first few games and create in effect a mini tournament.

To qualify

Each group contains four teams and the top two from each group can progress to the knockout stages. It is possible to place a bet on which team or even which two teams will make it out of each group.

To finish bottom of the group

Unfortunately, someone has to finish last. One of the bet types which you can use to profit from this is betting on who will finish last in each group. If two teams finish level on points, then it is settled by goal difference, and if still level it is usually a dead heat.

What To Look For When Signing Up For A World Cup Offer

When you are joining a bookmaker there are several things to consider and the Welcome bonus is only one of them. It can be important but it is far from the most important thing, we would suggest that you do not join a betting site just because of the Welcome bonus alone.

Having said that not all Welcome offers are the same and some can be considerably better value than others. There are certain factors that we suggest you take into account before jumping in.

  • Consider the qualifying bet minimum odds, and whether that will restrict you from placing a bet that you actually think will win.

  • Think about whether certain deposit methods which you like to use are eligible

  • Free bets expire after different lengths of time, and ideally, the best offers will have rewards valid for a week or more. World Cup free bets are no different from any others in this regard.

When Do Bookmakers Release World Cup 2022 Betting Offers?

There is no set date or consistency as to when bookmakers release any of their betting offers. Some will do it far in advance, months sometimes, whilst others will wait until the day, even until the hour before a match kicks off. For UK customers the best thing that you can do is to subscribe to receive promotional offers from the betting sites and hope that they notify of any Free bets that you may be eligible for in plenty of time.
