Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Women’s Champions League match.
Real Madrid stunned Arsenal with a 2:0 win in Spain, but the result masked the true balance of play. Arsenal were more proactive and created better chances — they simply lacked the finishing touch.
Arsenal (women)
Despite the defeat at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano, Arsenal posted 1.23 xG and registered 10 attempts, showing clear attacking intent. However, only one effort hit the target. Backed by the home crowd at the Emirates and buoyed by a 4-0 demolition of Liverpool on Saturday (18-3 in shots), Jonas Eidevall’s side are more than capable of turning the tie around.
Real Madrid (women)
Real Madrid followed up their upset against Arsenal with a historic first-ever win over Barcelona (3:1), though they were once again second-best in terms of chances (1.61–2.21 in xG). Misa Rodríguez was heroic in goal, but their away record remains shaky — 14 goals conceded in their last 10 road trips. The plan in London will be to defend the advantage, but lapses are inevitable under sustained pressure.
Arsenal (women) vs Real Madrid (women) Prediction
Arsenal have the firepower and momentum to stage a comeback, and the expected home dominance should eventually break down Real Madrid’s resistance. The Spaniards have ridden their luck, but that luck may run out in North London.
