Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Before you are two teams unlikely to leave you with a dull, goalless draw. Both Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City can deliver a spectacle, but the question is: who will be celebrating success in the end?
Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn Rovers have calmed down a bit after their high-scoring victories over Derby County (4:2) in the Championship and Stockport County (6:1) in the League Cup, where they netted a total of 10 goals. Their last match before the international break was a tough one. Blackburn played away at Burnley, who have the most expensive squad. The match ended 1:1, but it's worth noting that the sending off of Blackburn's centre-forward, Makhtar Gueye, in the 57th minute disrupted the game. Prior to that, Blackburn had scored two goals in each of their three Championship encounters, with the bet on total over 2.5 coming through in three out of four matches.
Bristol City
Bristol City players didn't spare their fans' nerves, suffering a heavy defeat to Derby County (0:3) in the last round, despite being the clearly superior side. The team should have scored — they managed 13 shots, five of which were on target, but their finishing let them down. However, it's not that they score too little; they have already netted six goals this season. Of course, their defence is messy, having failed to keep a clean sheet in any match. There are occasions where defence seems to vanish entirely, like their game against Millwall (4:3).
Blackburn Rovers — Bristol City Prediction
In Blackburn’s Championship matches, an average of 3.75 goals are scored, while Bristol City see an average of 3.5. Therefore, in their head-to-head meeting, the only sensible option is to bet on total over.
