Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Few would have imagined Blackburn and Sheffield United sitting in the relegation zone after ten rounds, especially considering both clubs were fighting for much higher targets last season. Now, victory is absolutely essential for each side.
Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn Rovers narrowly missed out on the top six last season, finishing just two points shy of the play-offs. This campaign has been a disaster by comparison — only two wins and one draw in nine matches. Even factoring in the postponed game with Ipswich Town, Blackburn Rovers wouldn’t climb higher than 19th. Their main issue is a chronic lack of goals: just seven scored so far.
Sheffield United
Sheffield United’s attacking numbers are even worse — four goals in ten games, the lowest tally in the division. They compensated for this with a solid defence, but that stability has vanished. The team now concede 1.6 goals per match on average, and new boss Rubén Sellés hasn’t managed to fix things. Seven of their ten league games this season have finished under 2.5 goals.
Blackburn Rovers vs Sheffield United Prediction
With both sides struggling so heavily in front of goal, another low-scoring affair looks inevitable. Expect a cagey match that ends something like 1:1 or 2:0 either way.
