Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Scottish Premiership match.
Celtic are aiming to extend their clean sheet streak at their home ground. The upcoming opponents seem suitable for this task, as Dundee have been struggling notably during the autumn.
Celtic
The team are finally returning home after a series of away matches. They couldn't secure a win in Bergamo against Atalanta, but did manage to keep a clean sheet, which is no small feat against the Italian side. On Sunday, they also didn’t concede from Motherwell, scoring three goals. At home, the reigning champions are even more confident. In the eighth round, Celtic drew for the first time since February this year against Aberdeen (2:2). They have been unbeaten since December 16, 2023, when they lost to Hearts (0:2).
Dundee
Dundee are not the kind of team that's unbeatable for Celtic. They have triumphed over them in the last 10 encounters. Their recent 2:1 result is unusual for these matchups; a +3 goal difference is more common. Nonetheless, Dundee tend to avoid heavy defeats against teams of other levels. This season it’s typically one or two goals difference. Only Rangers managed a 3:0 victory at Ibrox in the League Cup. What's more telling is that Dundee have lost five of their last six matches.
Celtic vs Dundee Prediction
A win for the hosts is all but assured, so the question is how many will they score? Based on their performances against mid-tier teams, Celtic are expected to net at least three.
