Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Miami Masters match.
Francisco Cerúndolo and Grigor Dimitrov square off for a place in the Miami Masters semi-finals, with both players enjoying strong campaigns in Florida. Cerúndolo has already sent Casper Ruud and Tommy Paul packing, while Dimitrov is beginning to replicate his 2023 run — when he reached the final — with impressive poise.
Francisco Cerúndolo
The Argentinian has had a strong run of matches on American courts, but his head-to-head record against experienced players works against him. Cerundolo has lost his last six matches against top-20 players over 30 years old. Francisco has performed well in Miami in the past – a semifinal in 2021 and a quarterfinal in 2022 – but four years ago, he was lucky to reach that stage due to Ruud’s withdrawal in the quarterfinal.
Grigor Dimitrov
The Bulgarian arrives in red-hot form, with his only defeat in March coming against Carlos Alcaraz. Dimitrov has battled through tight encounters in Miami — seeing off Karen Khachanov (6:7, 6:4, 7:5) and Brandon Nakashima (6:4, 7:5) — and is growing into the tournament. He’s thriving on serve too, winning 80% of points behind his first delivery (compared to Cerúndolo’s 72%). Importantly, Dimitrov has won four of his last five Masters semi-finals, and already has a grass-court win over Cerúndolo in their only previous meeting.
Francisco Cerúndolo vs Grigor Dimitrov Prediction
The Argentinian tennis player is decent, of course, but it will be tough for him against a versatile and experienced Dimitrov. The Bulgarian is consistent, fresh, and feels comfortable on the Miami courts. Therefore, we’re betting on Grigor Dimitrov to win.
