Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Finals match.
In Turin, Jannik Sinner will face Alex de Minaur in the semi-finals of the ATP Finals. Sinner is in the play-offs for the third year running, joining Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka, while de Minaur has reached the knockouts for the first time after advancing from the group with one win.
Jannik Sinner
Sinner is in outstanding form: 28 consecutive wins indoors since last season. At the ATP Finals he has dominated his opponents, not dropping a set to Alexander Zverev and Félix Auger-Aliassime. There is still a match against Ben Shelton, but it will not affect the standings; Shelton has already been eliminated. Against de Minaur, Sinner leads 12-0 with 20 consecutive sets won; the last five meetings indoors were straight-set wins.
Alex de Minaur
De Minaur is riding momentum: he is in the ATP Finals play-offs for the first time, the third player since 2000 to advance with only one group-stage win. In the group, he was outclassed by Carlos Alcaraz, then lost in three sets to Lorenzo Musetti, but responded by beating Taylor Fritz (7:6, 6:3). However, indoors his record is weaker than Sinner's (63% vs 81% wins). We note that in his last 10 indoor matches, de Minaur finished in straight sets seven times and reached a deciding set only three times.
Jannik Sinner vs Alex de Minaur Prediction
Sinner will set a high tempo from the first games and defeat de Minaur as in their previous meetings. We expect Sinner to win by a margin of at least five games.
