Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Vienna match.
Jannik Sinner returns to action in Vienna after skipping the Davis Cup due to fatigue and looks ready to continue his dominance on indoor courts. His opponent and fellow Italian, Flavio Cobolli, currently ranked 22nd in the world, faces a nearly impossible challenge.
Jannik Sinner
World No. 2 Sinner has completely recovered from the minor health issues that slowed him down in Shanghai. In Riyadh, he produced an outstanding run, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas, Novak Djokovic, and Carlos Alcaraz while dropping just six games across those matches. His start in Vienna was equally emphatic as he crushed Daniel Altmaier (6:0, 6:2), serving at 95 percent on first serve and hitting five aces. Indoors, Sinner is almost untouchable with a perfect 17-0 record since 2024. He also claimed the Vienna title two years ago, beating Daniil Medvedev in the final.
Flavio Cobolli
Cobolli, ranked 22nd, has enjoyed his best moments on clay, where he claimed titles in Bucharest and Hamburg. On hard courts, his record stands at 9-13 this season, and indoors he has won just 25 of 56 career matches. In Vienna, he defeated Tomas Machac (7:6, 6:2), but needed a tiebreak in the opening set. Against top-10 players, his record is bleak—14 losses in 15 matches without taking a single set.
Jannik Sinner vs Flavio Cobolli Prediction
Sinner is in peak form and only Alcaraz has come close to matching his level this year. Cobolli is unlikely to put up much resistance, especially on this surface. The world No. 2 should dominate from start to finish and secure another commanding win.
