Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
After a two-day delay, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County will finally play at Hillsborough. Will they draw again, as they have in their recent matches?
Sheffield Wednesday
Getting a draw has already become an event for Sheffield Wednesday. The club, which at the beginning of December were handed an additional six-point deduction for non-payment of wages, now have a total penalty of -18 points. Even the draw with Watford did not change their bleak position at the bottom of the standings. Sheffield Wednesday are still nine points, or three wins, away from getting back to zero. In such a psychological situation, how can they even manage a second win of the season?
Derby County
For Derby County, a draw with third-placed Millwall was an achievement (1:1). The match was unusual in that both goals were own goals scored by defenders, and neither side had a clear advantage. It is worth noting that this was already the eighth match in a row for the team in which they scored, and the “Both Teams To Score - Yes” bet also came in.
Sheffield Wednesday vs Derby County Prediction
Can we expect Derby County to score against Sheffield Wednesday? They have done so in each of their last seven matches. The hosts themselves do not score in every game (four of the last six). The safer option is to back Derby County to win and over 0.5 goals, because the hosts have scored more than one goal in only four league matches over the full 90 minutes.
