Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2024 Copa America match.
Uruguay
Uruguay's defense is still their strongest side: They've only missed one goal in four Copa matches, surprisingly against Panama (3:1). They will have a chance to play in Copa America final, only after a successful game against the Colombian side that has the strongest attack in the tournament. Uruguay has also shown they can be dynamic in the attacking third: they scored in three out of four matches. I expect a closed semi final until the first goal.
Colombia
Colombia have scored 11 goals in four Copa games, averaging 2.75 goals per game, which is impressive. Córdoba, Muñoz, and Díaz have scored two goals each. No other team can boast such a diverse and dangerous attack. Colombia will face a disciplined and structured Uruguay side, but they have the potential to knock out their opponent.
Uruguay – Colombia Prediction
Uruguay sensationally overcame Brazil in the quarter-final (1:0). The Uruguayans allowed the Pentacampeons to score a modest 0.55 goals on the xG in 90 minutes. Will Uruguay's defenders cope with Colombia? Their last head-to-head match, back in October, ended in a 2:2 draw. We can expect a high-scoring play again.
