Rublev defeats Sonego in opening match at Metz tournament
Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev, currently ranked ninth in the world, has advanced to the second round of the ATP 250 tournament taking place in Metz, France. In the round of 32, he secured a victory over Italy's Lorenzo Sonego, who holds the 51st spot in the ATP rankings, with a scoreline of 7-6 (7-3), 7-5.
The match lasted 1 hour and 52 minutes. Rublev delivered six aces, committed one double fault, and converted one out of five break points. His opponent recorded 12 aces, one double fault, and failed to capitalize on any of his five break-point opportunities.
In the second round in Metz, Rublev will face the winner of the match between Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff and Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
