Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Paris match.
Davidovich Fokina keeps drawing French opponents at the Paris Masters. This time it’s Cazaux, who reached the round of 16 here last year.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
The Spaniard is having a solid season (43-25) but still struggles to deliver consistency indoors. Despite reaching four finals and two semifinals this year, he’s yet to win a title. On indoor hard courts, he’s posted a 7-3 record this season. In Paris, Alejandro had to fight hard to overcome Valentin Royer (4:6, 6:1, 6:4), showing strong serving efficiency — 73% both in first-serve accuracy and points won.
Arthur Cazaux
The Frenchman, playing with a wild card, opened his home Masters by beating clay-courter Luciano Darderi (7:6, 7:6). However, indoors has never been his strength — he’s lost seven of nine career matches against top-20 opponents. Even against lower-ranked players, his results have been poor, such as a straight-set defeat to Shintaro Mochizuki (No. 94) in a recent event. His only previous meeting with Davidovich Fokina came last year in Acapulco, where Arthur lost (2:6, 6:7), a five-game margin.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Arthur Cazaux Prediction
Davidovich Fokina is a level above Cazaux, who mainly competes on the Challenger circuit. While the Frenchman impressed in Paris last year, his current form and lack of power on this surface make a repeat unlikely.
