Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the EFL Cup match.
QPR
In their last Championship match, the West London team missed an opportunity for victory against one of the main relegation candidates, Plymouth Argyle. Playing with an advantage from the 29th minute, QPR failed to secure three points. They came close, taking 30 shots (10 on target) and conceding just 6 (1 on target), but a lucky strike from the opponent was enough to miss a goal. Previously, they faced similar situations: conceding two goals from three accurate shots by Sheffield United and three goals from four shots by West Bromwich Albion.
Luton Town
Luton Town might find the statistics encouraging, suggesting they only need to hit the target against QPR to almost guarantee a goal, but their own numbers are not particularly impressive. On average, they manage 3.7 accurate shots per game but score just 0.3 goals. This is why they lost to Preston North End (0:1) and Burnley (1:4). Their defence was also totally inadequate against Burnley.
QPR - Luton Town Prediction
Both clubs often squander good opportunities, but QPR still manage to convert some of their chances. Additionally, they play at home. The team has not lost in three matches, with both teams scoring in four of their last five encounters. Moreover, they have not kept a clean sheet in their last seven matches.
