Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2026 World Cup Qualifier match.
In the current qualification campaign for the 2026 World Cup, Uzbekistan have a genuine chance of finally making it to the prestigious tournament. Their encounter with a rival like the United Arab Emirates presents an excellent opportunity for them to pull ahead in the standings.
Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan have started the third stage of World Cup 2026 Qualifiers impressively. They secured well-deserved victories over North Korea (1:0) and Kyrgyzstan (0:0), then held Iran to a goalless draw at home. Against the Iranian side, indeed, Uzbekistan could have capitalised further following Saleh Hardani's sending-off, but they opted for a secure backline (8-7 in shots after the break). In the next round, the Uzbek side will again start with Eldor Shomurodov, Otabek Shukurov, and Abbosbek Fayzullaev from the first minute, boosting their attacking potential.
United Arab Emirates
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates lack players of similar stature. Against Iran (0:1) last month, the UAE offered little in attack, as the favourites were more efficient in their finishing (2-3 in shots on target). Last week, they failed to overcome North Korea at home (1:1), with the visitors being significantly more threatening up front (1-7 in shots on target).
Uzbekistan vs United Arab Emirates Prediction
Home support in Tashkent will create a positive atmosphere for Uzbekistan. The UAE may find opportunities while playing away, but their opponents are likely to approach those chances with greater diligence.
