Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
Despite the renewed title race in Serie A, Napoli continue to struggle in attack, which remains a significant concern for Antonio Conte’s staff. Against Torino, the team will be without David Neres, who had secured a place in the starting eleven following the sale of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, forcing the squad to reshuffle the line-up with reserve players.
Napoli
In their recent match against Serie A’s bottom side AC Monza (1:0), Napoli managed to convert only one of their numerous chances, registering 1.67 xG. They still boast the best defensive record in the league by xGA (29.57) and remain the only side yet to concede more than 30 goals (25) this season. Across 33 matches, Napoli have seen the Total Under 2.5 Goals market land 17 times, and typically struggle to impose themselves against defensive opposition.
Torino
Torino, meanwhile, have been the least entertaining team in Serie A this season, registering only 10 matches with over 2.5 goals. Their recent 2:0 win against Calcio marked the fifth consecutive game in which the Total Under 2.5 Goals bet came through. Although Paolo Vanoli may wish to adopt a more attacking style, injuries to forward players such as Duvan Sapata, Valentino Lazaro, and Emirhan İlkhan have significantly limited his options. Promising midfielder Gvidas Gineitis is also suspended due to yellow card accumulation, so the visitors are likely to adopt a conservative approach from the outset in Naples.
Napoli vs Torino Prediction
Back in early December, Napoli narrowly edged out Torino (1:0). At home, Napoli are expected to come out on top again, but continued attacking inefficiency makes the Total Under 2.5 Goals market an appealing option.
