Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
The odds slightly favour the visitors over Sheffield Wednesday, even though Burnley are in the top three. So, why the scepticism? Could it be worth betting on them since they seem stronger?
Sheffield Wednesday
The answer lies in Sheffield Wednesday's recent performances: they have garnered seven out of nine possible points in their last three games. At home, they defeated former league leaders West Bromwich Albion (3:2), scoring the winner in the 86th minute, and in the ninth round, they clinched a late victory away against resilient Coventry City (2:1), with the decisive goal coming in the 93rd minute. Nobody expected much from Sheffield Wednesday.
Burnley
Burnley no longer seem like an unassailable force. Gone are the thrashings of the early days. They’ve either settled for dreary goalless draws or hard-fought wins against newcomers, like Portsmouth (2:1). Even Plymouth Argyle, who aren't exactly setting the league alight, only conceded from a penalty (1:0). Comparatively, Sheffield Wednesday look just as formidable: they have shown determination, and the threat can come from anywhere, with 11 goals shared across seven players.
Sheffield Wednesday vs Burnley Prediction
The home-field advantage will also play a significant role. In their last eight matches at the iconic Hillsborough, Sheffield Wednesday have lost just once to deserving Leeds United. They have secured three wins and four draws. Burnley won't have enough power to overcome the hosts.
