In 10 head-to-head meetings, Celtic have beaten AC Milan only once, and that was back in 2007. The upcoming friendly match will show whether Celtic can secure a second victory.
Celtic
Celtic only just managed to win another league title in Scotland, finishing ahead of Heart of Midlothian, who had moved in front during the season. On the final matchday they beat Heart of Midlothian 3:1 in a direct clash. The season showed that the side still have issues in their play, but head coach Martin O'Neill kept his job.
The results of their first pre-season friendlies this summer are mixed: a 1:1 draw with Shelbourne, a 1:4 defeat against Sporting CP and another 1:1 draw with Middlesbrough.
AC Milan
AC Milan are once again making significant changes to the club structure and the playing squad. There have been alterations both in the boardroom and in the coaching staff. Rúben Amorim continues to work as head coach; previously he was in charge of Manchester United, where he failed to meet the objectives set for him. To fit his ideas, Gonçalo Ramos has been signed to strengthen the attack and Mario Gila has arrived to reinforce the defence.
Unlike Celtic, they have not played any friendly matches so far. Because of injury, Christian Pulisic and Santiago Giménez will not be available.
Celtic vs AC Milan Prediction
Celtic come into this friendly after a difficult title race and an unconvincing start to pre-season, with only two draws and a heavy 1:4 defeat to Sporting CP in their first three games. The defensive issues that were evident last season have not yet been resolved, and Martin O'Neill is still in the process of adjusting the squad.
AC Milan are undergoing another rebuild under Rúben Amorim, but the club have strengthened key areas with the arrivals of Gonçalo Ramos in attack and Mario Gila in defence. Although this will be their first friendly of the summer, their individual quality and deeper squad look higher than Celtic's current level.
Given Celtic's shaky pre-season results and the potential of AC Milan's refreshed line-up, we prefer to side with them but with insurance against a draw. A Draw No Bet wager on them covers a stalemate and looks the more reliable option for this friendly match.
