Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Copa del Rey match.
Maracena, a debutant in the Copa del Rey, host top-flight Valencia, who will be eager to restore confidence after a run of five league matches without a win.
Maracena
Maracena, currently playing in the regional divisions after relegation from the Tercera, made a spirited start to their cup campaign with a win over Sporting Ceuta (1:1, 2:0 on aggregate). That success showed determination, but in their domestic competition they have already suffered three defeats and conceded 13 goals in 14 games. Against a club of Valencia’s calibre, the team will need to deliver a near-perfect performance just to stay competitive.
Valencia
Valencia are enduring a rough patch in La Liga, going five matches without a victory (two draws and three losses). The Copa del Rey presents a timely chance to regain momentum. Last season, the team reached the quarter-finals before being thrashed 0:5 by Barcelona. Valencia have been inconsistent defensively, conceding 16 goals in ten rounds, but solid wins over Athletic Bilbao (2:0) and Getafe (3:0) earlier this season showed their potential. Up front, Arnaut Danjuma and Hugo Duro remain the main threats, with three goals each in ten appearances.
Maracena vs Valencia Prediction
Maracena will be highly motivated in front of their home crowd, but Valencia’s quality, pace, and physicality are on a completely different level. Expect the visitors to dominate possession, create a flood of chances, and win comfortably, likely by multiple goals.
