Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Scottish Premiership match.
The clubs are close to each other in the table, with St. Mirren only ahead in seventh place thanks to a better goal difference. A win for either side could see them rise to sixth.
St. Mirren
St. Mirren have had a dismal run lately despite their victory in the last round. Before beating St. Johnstone (3:1), they had lost four consecutive matches. But let's discuss the nature of these results—whether triumphant or disappointing, they tend to be high-scoring. In those five games, over 2.5 goals were scored four times, and if we look further back, eight of their last nine fixtures saw more than two goals. Only the match against Dundee United was a dry affair (0:1).
Ross County
Ross County have been performing slightly better lately, though with mixed outcomes. In October, they suffered losses to Celtic (1:2) and St. Johnstone (0:3), but then they somewhat recovered against Kilmarnock (2:1) and drew with Hibernian (0:0). It's noticeable that over 2.5 goals was a feature in three of their last four matches. Their defence has been shaky, conceding an average of 1.6 goals per game, with four additional mistakes nearly resulting in goals.
St. Mirren vs Ross County Prediction
We believe the upcoming match will also delight us with three or more goals. St. Mirren will at least not lose, despite their recent negative streak; they have won their last three home encounters against Ross County.
