Review of the bookmaker bet-at-home from Legalbet

Bet-at-home.com was established in 1999 by entrepreneurs Jochen Dickinger and Franz Ömer. The company today belongs to the BetClic Everest Group. Their sports betting offering is regulated by MGA in Malta and they also have a license in the UK and Germany. Most players come from Central Europe and the main targeted countries are Germany, Austria, Poland, where bet at home have most market share.

They sponsor some of the most prestigious German and Austrian Clubs. Since August 2015, bet-at-home.com has been the main sponsor of Hertha BSC. They have come far since their beginnings and today over 5 million customers use them from all over the World.

Their motto is - "Life is a game"

Odds - Poor

We calculated the margin for Bet-at-Home by analyzing the odds they offer. We further ranked them in one of the following three categories:

From 1% to 5%: Good value

Over 5% to 7%: Average value

Over 7% to 10%: Poor value

Football

We got our results by taking into account the odds for final result outcomes measured in line with the over / under for different football leagues. Getting the average results using this method, we were able to obtain the margins for each league and the overall betting margin for the bookmaker.

Bet-at-Home has an overall average margin of 7.00% for football and falls in the high margins category. In the first section with Premier League and Championship, the margin is at 6.56%. The second section with Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A, the margin is at 7.06%. Finally, taking the English Football League One, Austrian Bundesliga and Polish Ekstraklasa into account, the margin is at 7.39%.

Range of Sports and Markets - Good

Range of Sports: Bet-At-Home cover a large range of markets but notably not horseracing

There are two things to mention here, firstly as we say they don’t actually offer the chance to bet on horse racing. There is nothing, not even The Grand National. The second point to make is that the sports available very much reflects the company’s German roots. Very few traditional UK-based bookmakers would offer four separate skiing sections! Whilst on the other hand UK centric sports are not really covered well, Rugby league and rugby union are both under the same ‘rugby’ tab, which is not really correct.

Range of Bets and Markets: The Football coverage is good, certainly competitive, and as with all bookmakers it will depend on what league you are betting on games have well over 100 markets to chose from on average. They have all main markets such results, correct score, some over/ under markets and Asian Handicap lines, but are limited in player markets and have no specials and no way to request them and have them added.

Tennis

What separates Bet-At-Home are their tennis odds, with many alternative bets available both pre-match and in-play. Here they often have an edge, a slight edge but an edge, on other bookmakers.

Betting Limits: Bet limits are high for most major markets, such as match odds, but begin to reduce for minor leagues or more niche proposition bets.

In-Play Betting - Good

The ”In Play” events you can wager on are listed on a menu down the left-hand side of the page and major sports like football and tennis are well covered but the selection of other sports for which events are regularly taken in-play is comparatively limited.

When an event does go in-play it benefits from a large selection of available markets all with good odds. Bettors will also have access to Bet At Home match statistics which can provide a live match tracker, line-ups and text commentary of the game. As well as the game information comprehensive form, head-to-head and other statistics from the past are also often available to view.

A Unique feature of Bet-At-Homes in-play service is for Esports fans who like to bet on League of Legends, they had their own section of in-play markets. We have never seen this elsewhere before.
