Review of the bookmaker GentingBet from Legalbet

“Genting” is a Malaysian-owned gambling brand that was first launched way back in 1965. In its early days, it grew to become one of the best-known casinos in the UK and world, with around 50 branches in Britain and active operations in the Americas, Australasia, and Asia. In 2014 the group launched its online sportsbook and has been expanding strongly ever since.

The company is still firmly in the hands of the Business owner, Lim Kok Thay, and the group now employs over 58,000 people World Wide. Despite the UK operation being based in Birmingham, the UK operations are run from Alderney, and they hold a licence from the UK Gambling Commission allowing them to provide sports betting services online.

Odds - Average

We calculated the margin for GentingBet by analyzing the odds they offer. We further ranked them in one of the following three categories:

From 1% to 5%: Good value

Over 5% to 7%: Average value

Over 7% to 10%: Poor value

Football

We got our results by taking into account the odds for final result outcomes measured in line with the over / under for different football leagues. Getting the average results using this method, we were able to obtain the margins for each league and the overall betting margin for the bookmaker.

GentingBet has an overall average margin of 6.57% for football and falls in the normal category. In the first section with Premier League and Championship, the margin is at 5.42%. The second section with Spanish La Liga and French Ligue 1, the margin is at 7.15%. Finally, taking the Dutch Eredivisie, Austrian Bundesliga and Polish Ekstraklasa into account, the margin is at 7.15%.

Range of Sports and Markets - Good

Genting cover all the major sports, including the all-important UK Horse racing, and they do so to impressive market depth, but they do not have all the niche sports and markets available at some other sites. At the time of writing, there were 27 sports available for betting.

Genting goes into most depth with their football offering but also have a strong covering of most other major gambling sports. In Golf as well as the obvious Open tournaments they also have the Czech Masters Golf, they have Greyhound racing from Nottingham, Tennis from Atlanta and every UK Horse Racing meet is covered every single day.

Football

Football, being the main market for punters in the UK, is of course stacked with a whole range of leagues and competitions from all around the world, including age-group tournaments, for example, the COSAFA under 20s tournament. They have all the main UK Leagues and each has just under 100 betting outcomes to select from. This is decent, but far from the highest available. They do have strong odds though, averaging about 94% payout.

Horse Racing

Horse racing is well covered at ever meeting but unfortunately, the odds can be poor, averaging about 80% - 90% for each race. However what saves the day is that they are one of the bookies who offer a ‘Best Odds Guarantee’ on horse racing, so you can never lose out taking an early price. They allow the standard win and place markets and also the usual accumulator options.

In-Play Betting - Good

The live betting section isn’t huge but it does cover the basics. You can see which events are available and currently taking place clearly. Once you are viewing your selected game there are a number of betting markets open to you for betting, not as many markets as some other sites, but enough to get on with.

Below the section where the live events are there is an upcoming events schedule so you can diary ahead. Overall, the live-betting offer is simple but it does a job and provides an ability to place live bets on most games if you want. There’s no live-streaming service available though so you can not enjoy watching the games too, which is disappointing.
